Tent lighting

Light that turns your incident tent into a workspace.

Meals, briefings, welfare: at night, the light decides how well your incident tent works. The Mactronic Galaxy series hangs from the tent pole, links up to ten lamps on one circuit and delivers up to 4,500 lumens per lamp. Even, glare-free and built to run for hours.

White LED

4,500 lumens over the whole tent

Galaxy 3.1 and 3.2 link up to ten lamps on one 230-volt circuit, each with its own on/off switch. They hang from the supplied metal suspension wire with lamp holders.

Our advice For a fixed chain in the tent, the Galaxy 3.1 is the most cost-efficient setup: one lead lamp with a 5-meter power cable, followed by up to nine add-on lamps. Choose the Galaxy 3.2 if you want to hang any lamp in any position: its Schuko connectors are sealed to IP68. Every lamp comes with a metal suspension wire and lamp holders.

Backup

Stays on when the generator fails

The Galaxy 3.3 has a built-in battery: if the 230-volt supply fails, it keeps shining at 1,000 lumens for over an hour. It runs on its own or as part of a Galaxy chain.

Good to know Used as the lead lamp of a chain of Galaxy 3.2 lamps, a single 3.3 covers exactly the position that matters most in a power failure, such as above the treatment area.

Color LED

White for work, red and blue for special incidents

The Galaxy OPL combines 2,500 lumens of white light with a second light color: red (645 nm) preserves your crews' night vision, blue (450 nm) makes injuries and technical details at the treatment area easier to see.

Good to know Both OPL versions are available as a lead lamp with power cable and as an add-on lamp to hook in. The light color doubles as a marker for tents and sectors.

Buying guide

Data sheet vs. data sheet

All values come from the manufacturer data sheets. The starting prices apply to add-on lamps; the lead lamp with a 5-meter power cable costs 264.95 € (Galaxy 3.1) or 506.95 € (Galaxy OPL).

FAQ

What to clarify before procurement

How many tent lamps can run on one circuit?

All Galaxy tent lamps link up to ten lamps in a chain on one 230-volt circuit. A lead lamp with a 5-meter power cable starts the chain, and you hook the add-on lamps in behind it. A full chain of Galaxy 3.1 lamps delivers 45,000 lumens while drawing only 300 watts.

What is the difference between a lead lamp and an add-on lamp?

The lead lamp comes with the 5-meter power cable for connection to a generator or the mains. Add-on lamps are hooked into the chain via connecting cables; these cables are sold separately. With the Galaxy 3.2, any lamp can take on either role: its connecting cable with Schuko plug and Schuko socket is included.

What comes with the tent lamps?

Every lamp comes with a metal suspension wire and lamp holders, so you need no extra procurement to hang it. The lead lamp also comes with the 5-meter power cable; the Galaxy 3.2 includes a connecting cable with Schuko plug and Schuko socket. The cables between add-on lamps are sold separately.

What happens if the power fails in the tent?

That is what the Galaxy 3.3 with its built-in battery is for: if the 230-volt supply fails, it keeps shining at 1,000 lumens for over an hour. Used as the lead lamp of a chain, it puts the emergency light exactly at the most important position, such as above the treatment area.

What are the red and blue lights for?

The red light of the Galaxy OPL Red (180 lm, 645 nm) preserves your crews' night vision. The blue light of the OPL Blue (300 lm, 450 nm) makes injuries and technical details at the treatment area easier to see. Both also shine with 2,500 lumens of white light, and the light color doubles as a marker for tents and sectors.

Can the lamps handle rain, frost and transport?

The Galaxy 3 series is protected to IP66 against dust and powerful water jets and operates from −35 °C to +50 °C, the OPL series to IP67 from −20 °C to +50 °C. All models carry the highest impact rating, IK10. The housings are made of aluminum and polycarbonate (3 series) or polycarbonate (OPL).

How does procurement from Rescuevation work for fire departments, the THW (Germany's Federal Agency for Technical Relief) and municipalities?

On account, as XRechnung on request. For budget planning, we issue a quote with line items and delivery time in advance. Tell us your tent inventory and typical incidents, and we will put the lighting together. For life-cycle costing: the LEDs of the 3 series are rated for 80,000 operating hours, those of the OPL series for 60,000.

Background

Tent lighting: fire departments, THW, civil protection

An incident tent without light is useless at night: meals, briefings and welfare need even, glare-free lighting that lasts for hours.

This collection contains tent lamps from the Galaxy series by Mactronic with up to 4,500 lm: for 230 V operation on a generator, with battery backup for power outages, and with colored signal versions for marking tents and sectors.

You will find light for the area in front of the tent in the Area Lighting for Major Incidents collection: floodlights, light masts and the SKYLUX flight system.
