- Made in Germany, Entwicklung und Fertigung in Andernach.

Frequently asked questions
When do I need SnakE® Solid instead of SnakE® 4?
When do I need SnakE® Solid instead of SnakE® 4?
Whenever you work with fire containment blankets or the system is used under intense radiant heat. Solid has no meltable components in the load path. Without blanket use, SnakE 4 is the more universal and slightly more cost-effective choice.
Can I combine SnakE® Solid with my existing VLITEX blanket?
Can I combine SnakE® Solid with my existing VLITEX blanket?
Yes. The blanket contains the fire while Solid actively cools underneath. Both systems are independent and are used in parallel. Requirement: sufficient ground clearance to slide Solid under the underbody before or while the blanket is applied.
Does this also work with blankets from other manufacturers?
Does this also work with blankets from other manufacturers?
Technically yes, provided the blanket reduces radiant heat and enough space remains for Solid underneath. The combination with VLITEX has been tested and documented; blankets from other manufacturers may also be suitable based on the same application logic. We will discuss specific recommendations in a consultation.
Can SnakE® Solid and SnakE® 4 be combined in one operation?
Can SnakE® Solid and SnakE® 4 be combined in one operation?
Yes. Both use the same Storz D interface. You can position Solid under the blanket and work with SnakE 4 outside in parallel, for example to cool adjacent vehicles.
How heat-resistant is V4A?
How heat-resistant is V4A?
V4A (1.4571 / 1.4404) remains dimensionally stable well above 800 °C and is acid-proof and corrosion-resistant against fire gases, battery contamination, and salt water. In the realistic operating range under a fire containment blanket, the system remains mechanically strong
Does SnakE® Solid prevent a thermal runaway?
Does SnakE® Solid prevent a thermal runaway?
This cannot be guaranteed. Solid supports cooling in the underbody area and makes the water application called for in the AGBF recommendations technically feasible. Whether a thermal runaway occurs or is stopped depends on the damage pattern, water supply, and situation.
How does maintenance compare to SnakE® 4?
How does maintenance compare to SnakE® 4?
Lower maintenance. Solid has no hoses that need to be checked or flushed. After an operation: rinse the V4A pipes, visually inspect the nozzles, and put everything back in the Eurobox.

SnakE - Fire service innovation as a special extinguishing device for all operational situations
-
EV cooling system
SnakE® is the intuitive, modular extinguishing system for fast and efficient underbody cooling of electric vehicles.
The modules are simply clamped tool-free onto a sectional ladder or a specially optimized aluminum frame, and the SnakE system is ready for use.
-
Retrofit spray bar
The wildfire set is an extension of the SnakE set for EV underbody cooling and can still be used for that purpose without restriction.
The compact nozzle modules are simply clamped onto the foldable retrofit spray bar and secured with spring latches. The complete system is then attached tool-free to the vehicle's shackles.
-
Rotary sprinkler
For use as a rotary sprinkler, the same compact modules are simply converted to rotary sprinkler nozzles. They can be attached to any suitable structure, such as trees, with a tension strap. This allows the rotary sprinklers to be used effectively on slopes as well.
-
Emergency decontamination
Using SnakE modules and sectional ladder sections, an effective emergency decon shower can be set up quickly and easily. It enables rough removal of fire residue particles from all directions.
-
Gas cylinder cooling
The SnakE nozzles can also be arranged as a ring line, allowing effective and personnel-independent use for gas cylinder cooling. This eliminates the need for anyone to stay near dangerous acetylene cylinders.

SnakE for underbody cooling
Fighting EV fires
Underbody cooling is the simplest and safest method for efficient firefighting on passenger cars with a lithium-ion battery as the high-voltage battery. Underbody cooling is also recommended in the Tesla Emergency Response Guides.
Underbody cooling avoids additional vehicle damage and poses no risk of unnecessary damage to the battery.
The ladder is continuously cooled by SnakE, and temperatures near the ground are generally not as high.
As an alternative, we offer a foldable aluminum frame that can also be stowed in the Eurobox.
Spray bar for retrofitting
Our mobile retrofit spray bar is a cost-effective way to upgrade existing pump-and-roll-capable vehicles. There is no need to wait for the next vehicle procurement.

SnakE® 6 Professional Modular Extinguishing System

How does the modular SnakE system work?
Here is a step-by-step explanation of how to use the SnakE system.
D-hose couplings
Connect modules
The individual nozzle modules are connected with specially designed D-hoses. This ensures an optimal spray pattern at all times and allows SnakE to be easily expanded.
Clamping
Mounting nozzle modules
The nozzle modules can be mounted on a specially dimensioned, foldable aluminum frame or on a sectional ladder. The overall height is so low that the system still fits under most common electric vehicles, even with burst tires.
C-hose couplings
Water supply
The water supply is provided via a C-connection, which is split into two D-outlets after a filter. This ensures a sufficient water supply at all times and protects the nozzles against clogging. The nozzles can therefore finely atomize the water at all times, increasing cooling performance while reducing water consumption! Each nozzle uses only around 20 liters per minute.
Simple expansion
Spray bar
SnakE can be converted into a spray bar with a simple extension kit from us. The same SnakE set can thus equip any pump-and-roll-capable fire apparatus with a wildfire spray bar. Ideal support for vegetation fires, oil trail removal, or street cleaning.

Firefighting in electric vehicles with lithium-ion batteries
Which extinguishing agent should be used for electric vehicles?
The extinguishing agent recommended by the professional associations AGBF and vfdb and by the German Fire Service Association is quite clear: water.
As with firefighting in vehicles with combustion engines, it can also be effective to use extinguishing foam in some cases.
SnakE is suitable for plain water as well as for foam or wetting agents.
What challenges does extinguishing electric vehicles with li-ion batteries pose?
The high-voltage battery in vehicles with alternative drive systems poses an increased risk of electrical accidents. The high-voltage cables are marked orange and must not be cut under any circumstances!
The battery of an electric car is usually installed in the underbody and is therefore difficult to access, so that under normal conditions little cooling water reaches the battery.
The risk with lithium-ion batteries is what is known as thermal runaway, meaning that many battery cells ignite one another through chain reactions. The damage is difficult to localize within the battery.
In addition, vehicles of modern design generally have a higher fire load and burn with greater energy release and smoke development.
How much water should be used when fighting fires involving high-voltage batteries in vehicles with alternative drive systems?
According to the latest recommendations of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), the following approach is recommended for a vehicle accident involving a vehicle with an alternative drive system.
It is advisable to deploy two different nozzles early on: one for conventional car firefighting and one for cooling the lithium-ion battery (LIB).
A small amount of water is usually sufficient for efficient cooling.
It is recommended to gain better access to the underbody of the vehicle, where the high-voltage battery is located, to increase efficiency and keep firewater consumption as low as possible.

What methods are currently available for fighting fires in vehicles with alternative drive systems, e.g. lithium-ion batteries?
- Wet quarantine/extinguishing container
- Extinguishing lance
- Extinguishing spike
- Fire blankets
- SnakE underbody cooling
What is the AGBF Bund recommendation for fighting fires in vehicles with electric drive systems?
Following the recommendations of the technical committees for preventive fire and hazard protection and for operations, extinguishing agents, and environmental protection of the German fire services within AGBF Bund, the following procedure was officially recommended in January 2021.
The initial firefighting measures are the same as for a conventional car fire: cooling with water and, if necessary, with extinguishing agent additives such as foam or wetting agents.
It is important to always consult the most up-to-date emergency response guides.
In general, modern vehicles release more smoke and heat.
If the vehicle is an electric vehicle, the high-voltage battery should be examined with a thermal imaging camera.
The efficient extinguishing agent for firefighting remains water.
If, when checking the high-voltage battery in the electric vehicle, a temperature significantly above the ambient temperature is measured, combined with a steady temperature rise, current recommendations call for cooling the housing of the high-voltage battery with water.
Quarantining is explicitly not the fire department's responsibility. In its latest recommendation, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) advises using this method only in absolute exceptional cases, as firewater disposal places a major logistical burden on fire departments. Preventive wet quarantine in particular should be avoided.
The HV battery in the electric vehicle must be cooled and monitored with the thermal imaging camera until the vehicle can be handed over to the operator or a suitable towing company.
Extinguishing success is achieved solely through the cooling effect of the water.
